Jatoba Decking Characteristics – When Jatoba decking is first milled, it is a salmon color with black striping that will weather dramatically into a deep red color. It will change in just a few days with direct sunlight.
Jatoba Deck Color – It is normally reddish-brown which will turn to a beautiful mahogany red color in the sun. You will love the variations in color and grain of this classic hardwood which is typical for any natural wood
Jatoba Hardness – It has a Janka hardness rating of 2820 lbf which is harder than Maple with a Janka rating of 1450 lbf, and Oak with a Janka rating of 1360 lbf.
Jatoba Decking Durability – Jatoba decking is naturally scratch resistant making it the perfect choice for flooring and outside decking. It is also resistant to mold, fungus, and termites or other wood infesting insects.
Jatoba Decking Preservation – This decking will turn a rich reddish brown after exposure to the sun. Applying a finisher or sealant with UV blocking will preserve its beautiful mahogany color. No other preservatives are necessary.
